Rebates documentation

Rebates adds one sponsored line to Claude Code’s status bar and thinking spinner. You earn for every impression. It never reads your code, prompts, or output; it only renders an ad from a local cache.

How it works

rebate patches three documented keys into ~/.claude/settings.json (statusLine, spinnerVerbs, and env.FORCE_HYPERLINK), after taking a byte-exact backup. Claude Code then runs rebate statusline on each status refresh; the command prints the cached ad as a clickable hyperlink and refreshes the cache in the background. rebate off restores the backup precisely.

One wallet with SellTraces

Rebates is one of two earning engines on the platform. Ads revenue from Rebates and trace sales from SellTraces land in the same account wallet at /dashboard, with one payout flow. You can run either engine alone or both together.
Rebates and SellTraces are separate CLIs with separate capabilities. The rebate binary contains no code that reads source files or transcripts; trace collection is handled only by the selltraces CLI, and only with explicit opt-in.
